Evanston Hospitals and Healthcare

Evanston, IL has long recognized the need for healthcare services within the community. Beginning in 1892, the Visiting Nurse Association began providing health services to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. A six-bed hospital was established in a house on Emerson Street. Due to the demand, the first Evanston Hospital building opened in 1898.

Today, the Evanston Northwestern Healthcare is an academic health system affiliated with Northwestern University Evanston. Evanston Northwestern Healthcare provides high quality medical care and conducts community outreach programs promoting health and wellness. Evanston Northwestern Healthcare and other medical facilities provide numerous services to residents of the city of Evanston and the surrounding communities.
