The city of Evanston is served by the Metra Train system, with a stop in the heart of downtown Evanston. The Metra serves Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, including Cook, DuPage, Lake, Will, McHenry and Kane counties.
Evanston, IL is also served by the Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) “L,” which is a Chicago area nickname for the elevated train system. The “L” has many stops in the city of Evanston and runs throughout all of Chicago. Evanston is on the purple line of the CTA’s “L” system.
